Wow, it's December already. December has always been my
favorite month of the year--not just because of Christmas, although that's a part of it. My birthday's
in December.
Granted, it almost wasn't. I was supposed to be born on January 20, but in the first of many times I've gotten an early start to avoid being late, I arrived on December 30. A nice little tax deduction for my parents? Maybe, although Daddy tells me I only cost $68.00 and I was born in two counties. Okay well, that's almost true. The town where I was born is Baldwyn, Mississippi, and it's built on the county line between Lee and Prentiss Counties in Mississippi. The Clinic where I was born was also built on the county line. So depending on which exam room I was born in, maybe I was born in two counties.
This year may not be my favorite year, and this
December may not be my favorite December. I'll be 60 on December 30 of 2007. I
have never minded any of my birthdays... not my 30th, not my 40th, not even my
50th. But 60 may bother me.
I'd
love to hear from any of you who feel like stopping by my myspace page and
saying hi this month in an effort to keep my spirits up. Go to www.myspace.com/mallorykane
Thanks in advance for helping me to greet my 60th birthday in
style.

Breaking News:
I just received a new
contract for three books which will be released back-to-back in April, May and
June of 2009 (tentative dates.) The title of the series is BLACK HILLS
BROTHERHOOD, and it's the story of three men who endured a near-death experience
and tragedy in their childhood that changed the direction of each of their
lives. They swore a blood-oath to dedicate their lives to rescuing the innocent
and bringing them back safe and sound. Now each man must put his life on the
line, not only for the innocent life they're trying to save, but for their
nation's freedom as well.
Stay tuned for upcoming information on the books, as
well as future projects I have planned for the Black Hills
Brotherhood.

Join Me for The Intrigue Authors Holiday Blog Blitz
in December.
Join me and more than a dozen Harlequin Intrigue
authors--and three EDITORS!--starting December 1st and running through December
31st, for the Intrigue Authors blog blitz on the Intrigue Authors website
blog. www.intrigueauthors.com
Not only can you meet the authors of Harlequin
Intrigue, but you can learn about the line and celebrate its loyal readers. And
by the way -- win free books!
Intrigue is currently looking to acquire new authors,
so here's an opportunity to talk with veteran authors of the line and newcomers
alike. Plus, editors Denise Zaza, Allison Lyons and Sean Mackiewicz will be
stopping by. A different author will post each day, sharing holiday greetings
and, of course, talking books. Plus, every reader who posts a comment or
question will be eligible to win a free autographed book--and every author is
donating one! (Only one winner per person per week, but post often and you could
win books by 5 different authors)
I'll be the featured blogger on
December 20 and December 29, so please stop by and say hi. By commenting you'll
be eligible to win one of my books. I'll be talking about my January release
SILENT GUARDIAN as well as my other upcoming books and my new series, Black Hills Brotherhood, which will be premiering in
April of 2009.

The January RT Bookclub magazine.
HArlequin has a featured article in the January issue about Harlequin's Ultimate
Heroes. The January books, including mine--Silent Guardian-- all feature real
men on the covers. My cover hunk is Jude Rutland, a Canadian firefighter. What's
so very interesting about Jude being on my cover, is that my hero, Geoffrey
Archer, has scars on his right hand from a bullet wound. Jude has scars on his
hand that he received fighting a fire. Wow! Can't get much more heroic than that
for a REAL live hero, can you?
I haven't seen the article yet, but I was
interviewed about how I liked having a real-life hero on my cover. What could I
say? I love it! I think Harlequin should feature more real men. After all, it's
the real men in our lives who are the heroes, right?
